Papa Johns and Netspend embrace augmented reality for eGift campaign

Papa Johns and Netspend recently jumped into augmented reality (AR) with an eGift promotion in partnership with Shaq’s Fun House, presented by Netspend. Consumers learned about the campaign courtesy of an Instagram hub hosted by basketball great Shaquille O’Neal.

The company made an AR experience that began when users pointed their phone’s camera at a dollar bill. As a result of WebAR technology developed by Videobomb, an image of a dollar bill linked users to a promotion that invited them to sign up for a USD 10 discount on a Papa Johns e-gift.

This was the first AR activation for Netspend and was made possible by Nashville-based agency FlyteVu, which recently launched a web3 practice
