Meta integrates AI capabilities into its apps and hardware

Incorporating new AI experiences like image generation and new AI assistants, Meta Platforms Inc. is bringing a completely new way to interact with artificial intelligence to its platform, the company announced today during its Meta Connect event.

With its Llama 2 generative AI foundation model, which can aid in the creation of chatbots, Meta has until now primarily focused on conversational AI; the company hasn’t talked about other kinds of models that can create images very frequently.

Expressive Media Universe, or Emu, is the new image generation model that Meta has introduced. It will convert whatever they type into premium emoji stickers that they can then include in their text messages and Instagram stories using technology that combines Llama 2 and Emu.
